Background History

Technical High School (Toungoo) was first established on the Yangon-Mandalay Highway near Kanyoe (village) in Toungoo, Bago Region in June,1982. To increasingly produce medium-grade technicians for the Nation, it was upgraded to Government Technical Institute on 2nd December, 1985.

After the Ministry of Science and Technology had been established in 1996, it was upgraded to Government Technological College on 2nd October, 1999 to nurture technicians and engineers. It was then upgraded into Technological University (Toungoo) on 20th January, 2007. It has been situated on the Thetshekyawhtin Street, Thawonngal Quarter, Kaytumati in Toungoo, Bago Region since April, 2008.

At present, it is offering six Engineering Programmes, which are: Civil Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering and Information Technology.

In order to achieve the quality standard of teaching and learning, and research and development (R&D), Technological University (Toungoo) is linked with other technological universities in Myanmar. Teaching syllabuses for each engineering and academic subjects are made up to meet the requirements of international standards.

I’m Pro-Rector of administrative office at Technological University (Toungoo). My academic background is Electrical Power Engineering. I got Bachelor and Ph.D Degree from Mandalay Technological University, MTU in 2003 and 2008. I also got Master Degree from Yangon Technological University, YTU in 2006.

The main programs offering from Technological University (Toungoo) are Civil Engineering; Electronics Engineering; Electrical Power Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Information Technology Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering. If you want to study at Technological University (Toungoo), you have to study for (5) Academic Years starting from this Academic year. Students will be able to get a fully-fledged education (outcome based education) while learning relevant engineering subjects, along with practical skills. After successful completion, you will achieve a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) degree.

For hardworking and outstanding students who have difficulty with school expenses, there are open discussions with family teachers and head of departments for providing government scholarships. Students should be physically fit while studying engineering subjects. Aiming to obtain good practices of team cooperation and to produce university level elite athletes, sports events, such as rainy season sports, independence Day and Union Day sports competitions are held every academic year. Therefore, Students can do sport activities at a multi-purpose sport hall and a temporary football field. We try to meet and discuss with industry employers will continue to provide job opportunities for students. we can guaranty that the students can get the expected learning outcome of each subjects. Creating better opportunities for our students, We are confident that the vision set by our university will be achieved in the near future.
